Corticolous; on deciduous trees; very common.

Similar to Physcia adscendens (lobes with marginal cilia); but soralia lip-shaped, at the ends of the lobes (difference to P. adscendens with helmet-like lobe tips).
Cortex K+ yellow, medulla K-.
